It might sound gimmicky, and it kind of is…but it works! Step inside this unassuming bar next to a liquor store on Greenville Ave, and enter what feels like a real boxcar in first class. TV screens line the sides, showing fast-moving videos of cityscapes and countryside views to give you the sensation of being on a train!*
THE SMALLEST BAR IN DALLAS?
While Tina’s Continental may still hold the title, Boxcar might be a close second! Despite the spacious feel, the interior is under 1,000 sq ft—996, to be exact. Choose a booth by the “train windows” or grab a seat at the bar, where “train attendants” (aka bartenders) will serve you.
CLASSIC, HIGH-QUALITY COCKTAILS
If you’re a fan of well-crafted cocktails, you’ll love it here. Two former bartenders from Parliament now helm the bar at Boxcar, mixing up classic drinks like the Bee’s Knees, Old Fashioned, and French 75. You can also try inventive cocktails from their menu with punny train-inspired names like “Caboose Juice” or “Off the Rails.”

The small but mighty snack menu includes treats like truffle parmesan tater tots and herbed whipped cream cheese, served on fine china to complete the first-class train vibe. The attention to detail really brings this concept to life, making it feel like more than a gimmick—it’s a thoughtful experience!
*Full disclosure: If you’re prone to motion sickness, the faster-moving scenes may not be ideal! One of us felt a little queasy at first, but the “countryside” scenes were calmer and made for a smoother experience. No one else in our group was bothered, though!
