LAWNIE’S
Situated in a renovated 100-year old home right on Henderson Ave next to Mayer’s, Lawnie’s is your classic ice house-style sports bar, all centered around enjoying yourself in a casual way, outside on the turfed patio!
AN ICEHOUSE
No, not THE Icehouse, but AN icehouse! One of the owners, Sam Wynne (formerly of Braindead Brewery and currently of Mike’s Gemini) was telling us how the term icehouse comes from buildings that used to store ice throughout the year, prior to refrigeration. They would keep cold beer on site and people would come by and sit outside the “icehouse” while enjoying a drink!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Lawnie’s, the name coming from the term for a garden gnome, has several signature cocktails including a very impressive iced espresso martini, margarita or “Lawn” Island Iced Tea. Order one at your patio table, whether picnic or Adirondack, facing Henderson or overlooking the massive American flag.
SPORTS
We can already tell that sports will be big at Lawnie’s - there are multiple TVs spread all around the patio, but on the right side, there’s a section really dedicated to sports watching, with big booths or stadium style high tops, all facing a slew of TVs.
FOOD
While you will find a great menu of casual drinks here, you will not find a food menu. However, you can expect to see food pop ups or trucks, as well as pre-prepared items made by an off-site caterer.
So welcome to the neighborhood Lawnie’s! We can guess that the lines you see up and down Henderson bars will shortly be a reality at this spot too, so hurry and check it out!
