If you’ve been awaiting the opening of Nuri Steakhouse, two years and $20 million later, it opened its gold metallic doors earlier this week!
Updated August 2024
NURI STEAKHOUSE
The passion project from Smoothie King CEO, Wan Kim, he originally opened a “test restaurant,” Nuri Grill, in Koreatown which then closed in 2022 to become Nuri Steakhouse, a much more elevated steakhouse in the heart of Uptown. It’s a combination of Kim’s upbringing in Seoul mixed with a classic Texas steakhouse, with no expenses left for the buildout!
His goal is to bring Dallas the “no. 1 restaurant in Texas!”
THE DESIGN
The interior is truly gorgeous. We felt like we were in a New York art decor restaurant - the custom lighting, the wood features, the stone - everything works together to create a space that looks like a piece of art. The details are impressive too - silk wallpaper, Korean plateware, a special $65,000 lighting feature in the bar made from a former milk tank.
THE MENU
The steak is obviously the centerpiece. Choose from classic or dry aged, Texas Akaushi Heartbrand reserve, or three types of specialty wagyu cooked right in front of you on a Himalayan salt rock.
Start with the wagyu dumplings, Korean pork belly or chili Burrata (a surprising standout) to name a few. There’s also a delicious Korean-style lobster and a Nuri tasting board that gives you a bit of everything! And then make sure to load up on the sides from K-Mac to Maque Choux Corn Cheese.
BALL OUT OR KEEP IT AFFORDABLE
What we liked about Nuri is that it caters to a range of experiences - ball out with $120 3oz Japanese wagyu or $9,000 bottles of rare whiskies, or enjoy a more reasonable yet upscale dining experience, like with the $80 16oz dry aged steak or $99 Nuri Board, perfect for two!
A FEW MORE THINGS TO KNOW
Beyond the bar and dining room, a covered patio is coming soon, as is a a private club in the back. Also reservations are definitely suggested but the bar is open seating! Lastly, there’s a master sommelier on hand!
